This can occur when you find yourself not properly focusing on your job simply because you are thinking about somewhere you would probably rather be or something you would otherwise be doing, resulting in mindless mistakes that will make you and others question your competency. Practicing mindfulness is a superb method to increase your efficiency in your everyday routine and work, thereby improving upon your self-esteem as well as your confidence in your abilities.

Mindfulness is being conscious of your environment and your behaviours. Perhaps you have ever driven all the way home and then not been able to remember virtually any part of the drive? How often have you ever spent your morning trying to find your automobile keys because you cannot recall the spot where you put them? How frequently have you consumed a whole bag of potato chips and without realising you are over full until you get to the bottom of the bag. . Not living mindfully allows some individuals to prevent facing uncomfortable questions such as “Am I pigging out?” Is this relationship healthy?” “Am I fulfilled in this job?”

 

Living mindfully usually means living in the present moment, not dwelling on the past or fantasizing about the future.

Living mindfully means you need to face unpleasant details and deal with them. Denying the uncomfortable truths isn’t going to make sure they are any less true or less detrimental. For example of this sitting while in front of the TV mindlessly eating a large tub of ice-cream does not mean you are ingesting much less calories and in case you have a problem with your body image, eating mindlessly will not improve the way you are feeling with regards to you. In fact you’ll feel worse about yourself, which leads you to think negative thoughts concerning yourself for example ‘I am weak’ or ‘I have now self-control’

Practicing mindfulness frequently will help you live in the present moment and become more mindful of your thoughts feelings and behaviour. Being conscious of the thoughts and behaviours that sabotage self-esteem can help you take responsibility and handle them and ultimately improve your self-esteem.

Everyone holds certain beliefs about themselves, some good some bad. It is these self beliefs that constitute self esteem. It may be the beliefs they’ve got about  how they look, the skills the have, their feelings or behaviors. It’s often developed through out the early childhood years.

The message parents give to their young child, is often the perception they have of themselves during their adult years. For instance, there’s a high chance that a child who is told they are overweight their whole life growing up will have a messed up perception of their body as a grown up. If a child is told they aren’t great at maths they will wind up quitting because they don’t think they have a chance, which will cause self-fulfilling prophecy. A child is more likely to grow up  feeling loved if they’re loved unconditionally while they’re a child.
